I told everyone I wanted to be a ‘dancing girl’ when I grow up, something my parents soon realised was a phase I wasn’t going to grow out of. I had a dream of becoming my ballet teacher and the highlight of my week as a child was rushing straight to ballet after school to help with the younger children’s classes.
This passion grew and I knew as soon as I finished school I wanted to train as a ballet teacher. Whilst teacher training with the Royal Academy of Dance I decided to explore more professional dance opportunities. I wanted to gain as much experience as I could before embarking on a full time teaching career with the hope of fulfilling my dream of having my own dance school one day.
Gaining a place at the prestigious Laine Theatre Arts was the perfect place to gain more professional training and teaching qualifications. I will be forever grateful for my three years at Laines. It was during this time that I fully began to understand the importance of being a valuable company member – reliable, disciplined, energetic and fully focused in every class I attended. In addition to achieving the highest levels of technique in my dance training as well as confidence, people skills and presentation. To pass this on to my students helps to provide preparation for a life-long career in any field which is why I am so passionate about dance for children.
